Body found in woodland in Otterspool

A man's body was found in woodland in Otterspool yesterday.

At around 8am a member of the public found the body, believed to be that of a man in his late 30s or early 40s, in woodland close to the local authority recycling centre.

Police are not treating the death as suspicious but are keen to identify the victim so that they can contact his family.

The man is described as white, around 6ft tall, of broad build, with cropped light brown hair and a short beard.

He was wearing smart clothing, including a grey fleece jacket, and had two distinctive tattoos on his body: one of angels wings on the back of his neck and another of oriental-style writing on his left forearm.

Officers are appealing for anyone who is concerned for the whereabouts of a friend or relative who matches this description, or has any other information, to contact them at Admiral Street police station on 0151 777 5376 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

This is a 36% detection rate and is 11% above our target and is a great effort. This shows the presence of your Greenbank and St Michaels officers, both in high visibility and plain clothes mode, is having a direct effect on crime.

PCSO increased powers

As of this weekend (1st December), Merseyside Police's Community Support Officers will be given an additional 17 powers.

All of the Force's Police Community Support and Traffic Officers (PCS & TOs) now have the power to seize vehicles which are being driven anti-socially and to disperse crowds of youths among a number of other powers.

The increase comes following a decision by the Secretary of State to standardise the powers given to PCS & TOs across the country. There are now 20 standard powers and a number of discretionary ones, two of which have been awarded in Merseyside.

3 Parks Supplementary Agenda Including Latest Police Report from Admiral Street shows crime down in many areas.

To assist in combating off road vehicle nuisance and ASB, supported by Cllrs Allen(s) and Coyne, St Michaels ward, South Central NMA has agreed funding to allow training and equipment for a further 6 officers from Admiral St. This will increase visibility in the parks and open spaces and allow the more effective use of the 2 police quads currently based at Admiral Street.

Police Report for June

June's report by the Police for the area.

Off Road vehicles continue to cause nuisance within the area and on the old Festival site. A site visit with the festival area developers was conducted resulting in planned improvements in the perimeter fences, placement of 'A' frames at access points and digging of barrier trenches.This will make it difficult for these vehicles to gain access to the location. Numerous vehicles have been seized and warnings under the Police Reform Act have been issued regarding the anti-social use of off-road vehicles. This issue has been attached as a priority within the KINS action plan for enforcement over the coming months due to improving weather and noise nuisance they cause.
