Campaign to Revive Festival Gardens Ferry Service

HOW about reviving the ferry services from Liverpool Pier Head to the restored International Garden Festival site?

That’s the aim of a campaign led by Ray Hannaway, of Speke, who thinks the superbly revived Festival Gardens would be an ideal extra call for Mersey Ferries. A meeting is planned for July 4, at 5.30pm, in Otterspool Inn, for all those interested in the idea.

Nigel Sharp, Liverpool City Council parks development officer, thinks the idea should be explored. He said: “Reviving Festival Gardens is about attracting visitors, so anything promoting tourism to our green spaces is good.”

‚ÄúThere is also potential for round trips for walkers and cyclists, returning by Otterspool Promenade or St Michael’s Station.”

this idea as not been thought out properly for instance:
two tides a day sometimes one very early and one late at night(think winter)
the cost of a new landing stage would be prohibative.
winter on prom can be terrable.
lets face it, the site is okay for locals but hardly a day out with the kids
you could see the whole lot in half an hour.
would you really prefare this to bebington country park.
the person who thought of this is getting a bit over exited
