Porpoise or Dolphin

While out taking photos this evening just down from the Brittania Inn along the Dingle Esplanade I saw something unusual in the water. There were two of them, quite a long way out. Unfortunately my camera doesn't have much of a zoom lens so it's hard to be sure what exactly they were. You can click on one of the photos to see a larger version. Dolphin Dolphin Apparently the Harbour Porpoise is most commonly sighted in this area but I'm not sure as this doesn't seem to have the right shaped nose. I think it looks more like a Bottlenose Dolphin. Any experts out there?

Tree Removal from Priory Wood

As you may be aware a major sewer collapsed recently in Priory Wood, just off Riverside Drive. In order for United Utilities to fix the sewer they need to excavate along the western side of priory wood from the recently dug shaft down to Riverside Drive. This excavation will be up to ten metres in depth. Due to the vast amounts of spoil and the size of the plant machinery used the majority of trees in this area will have to be removed. As this is an emergency United Utilities are exempt from applying for consent when cutting down trees to allow repairs to their pipes and …

Riverside Drive to Open This Weekend

[Update:] Yes it's open! Good news from United Utilities... "...our wastewater network team expects to have Riverside Drive reopened "over the weekend". We can not give an exact time, but at this stage, we estimate that the road will be open in time for Monday's morning rush hour. " [Edit:] Looking at it Sunday morning the road looks fine and looks like it could be opened at any time. The sound of rushing water coming from the manhole cover in the road is a bit offputting though as is the work going on in Priory Wood. Some of the nicest parts have turned into a building …

Road Closure could be for 6 Weeks say United Utilities

Spokeswoman for United Utilities, Helen Wilson, said: “People can expect the road to be shut for at least six weeks, and that’s a very early estimate. We won’t really know the extent of the repairs needed for a couple of weeks while we are investigating. “We now have the major job of digging down to the sewer and clearing away the collapsed section of road before we can properly assess the damage and the best way to repair it. “It will take a couple of weeks for us to excavate down and begin to assess repairs. Flows are still managing to run through the sewer past the …

Riverside Drive Closed

Riverside Drive is closed to through traffic both ways between Moel Famau View and Beech Avenue.
