Hub Festival 21/22 May 2011

Otterspool HUB Festival The award winning Funeral For a Friend will headline the festival along with The Blackout. Young Guns, Mayday Parade and We are in the Crowd will also be playing throughout the weekend. Local bands are being given the opportunity to win a place in the line-up – all they have to do is visit the website, upload a sample of their music and fill in the online application. A panel of local music industry professionals will draw up a shortlist and festival goers will be asked to online and vote for their favourite. Cost For the first time there is a charge of £5 for a single day ticket or £8 for the two days. 8,000 tickets available for each of the two days. BMX BMX legend Jerry Galley, skateboard gurus Pete King, Chris Oliver and Rodney Clarke and pro BMX rider Bas Keep will be showcasing their skills throughout the weekend. Mersey Tidal Power Exhibition

There is a public exhibition on Saturday 15th Jan 2011 at the Britannia Pub on Riverside Drive concerning the Mersey Tidal Power project. The exhibition will provide information about the project and the work undertaken to date, with members of the project team on hand to answer any questions. Feedback forms will be provided to capture the views and ideas of members of the public.

The following is taken from details of the executive board meeting on 23rd Nov 07 which can be found on the Liverpool City Council website. With respect to Physical Improvements to Otterspool Promenade Phase 2 : Dingle Esplanade (REG/21) Physical Improvements to Otterspool Promenade Phase 2 : Dingle Esplanade (REG/21) REG.21 Mersey Waterfront Pride in our Promenade Plan Resolved that – (i) Liverpool City Council (Regeneration Parks and Environment Division) act as project managers for the project delivery stage and directly employ 2020 Liverpool to design and tender the project; (ii) authority be granted for the Assistant Executive Director Regeneration (Policy and Programmes) to accept ERDF grant up to £710,000 and NWDA grant up to £ 626,600 over the life of the project as a contribution to the costs. The City Council will thereby accept the role of the Accountable Body and ensure that the grant is administered appropriately; (iii) the Divisional Manager for Policy and Programmes be appointed as the nominated officer for monitoring compliance with the terms and conditions of grant. This includes maintaining a constant review of risk of grant being clawed back under grant rules and regulations and making budgetary provision to cover any requirement to repay grant in the financial year which the liability arises; (iv) authority be granted for the Assistant Executive Director (Regeneration Services) to tender the works and to accept tenders in accordance with City Council standing orders; (v) the City Council’s capital budget be amended to reflect additional expenditure funded by NWDA 2007/8 (£500,000) 2008/9 (£126,600) and ERDF grant income in 2007/8 (£210,000), 2008/9 (£500,000); and (vi) further reports be brought forward as necessary regarding progress with external fund raising for further phases of this...

Council Compost Giveaway

Update I know many people are wanting to know when this years giveaway starts. Sadly as far as I can find it no longer operates 🙁 If you find out any information please post a comment below. There are lots of people wondering about this. Liverpool compost giveaway: Liverpool city council is giving away 20 tonnes of compost over the weekends of 13th-14th October 2007. This giveaway is a ‘Thank you’ to our residents for recycling over 10,000 tonnes of green waste so far this year and to promote the use of home composting bins.
