One of the biggest parts of the Riverside Drive area is the site of the International Garden Festival of 1984.
The Liverpool International Garden Festival site was the largest urban reclamation programme ever witnessed when the Gardens were originally commissioned in 1981. Attracting some £12.5m of Government funding in 1984 and bringing in some 3.2m visitors from UK and overseas, it became the first of five International Garden Festival sites created in the UK.
Langtree McClean have announced plans for a new development to be known as Festival Gardens. The brochure from their site is also available here.
and a fly through video simulation is also available
Carey Jones Architects also have some information
The development is not without its critics however and a public enquiry has been called. It is due to start on the 30th October and will last up to 3 weeks. Have a look on the news pages for further information.
Hope you enjoy the site!
